Sick
Well I have been sick for the last three days now. The snowy, cold weather today was definitely not a help to me either! I decided to go to the Health Center today and found out that they are using new technology as well. Instead of checking in with a receptionist, you now swipe your card into a machine and enter all of your information on the touch screen provided. It was pretty neat, I thought! Then it tells you to go sit in the waiting room and they call your name over the speaker phone. Technology seems to be replacing people and taking over face to face communication these days. Not really sure if that is a good thing or not. Sure it helps with organization and time, as well as making things easier, but it also is going to make future generations progressively lazier.

Staying Active
I always played sports growing up. In elementary school, I played soccer and softball, and from 7th-12th grade I played tennis and Softball every year for the school. These were always fun activities for me and going to games and practice was never a burden. The one thing I never realized until I got to college was how good of shape these sports were keeping me in. I do not play any sports here and college and I find it hard to motivate myself to go to the gym. I have been so busy lately that all I want to do is relax after all of my work. I need to get into a routine and find something I like doing!

My Major Change
I changed my major this year into Health and Physical Education with a minor in Sport Management. It was the best thing I have decided to do in a long time (Even better than getting taco's for dinner tonight). I came from Early Childhood Education where I started to realize that all I could have done with that degree is teach pre-k to 4th grade. BAD CHOICE! There is so much more opportunity with a health and physical education major, and adding on my sport management minor just opens up the field so much more. My ultimate goal would be teach elementary for several years, and then find a position as a high school Athletic Director. As of right now, I want to get my master's in administration so I will be able to move up the ladder within a school. I love the program I am in, and am so happy I made the change.

SRU
I really love it here at Slippery Rock. When I was a freshmen, I was an Early Childhood Education major, but I switched to Health and Physical Education this year. The P.E program here is great and I am really glad I am a part of it. However, I live seven hours away from school and sometimes I wish I was closer. My second choice school was a school in New York, but the program there does not certify you in health as well. It would be nice to be closer to home, but I know I am getting a great education here.
